Prevailing in Truth

We don't want to live tolerating life, but prevailing in life.

The truth of God's Word will enable us to prevail in all areas of life. When we do our part, by positioning the Word as our final authority, the power of God is released on our behalf.
Together we will breakdown and unpack the truth and learn to apply it to all areas of our lives in a very practical way. We tend to overcomplicate truth when all God asks of us is our obedience. He makes powerful the simple.

It's Nice to Meet You!

The unofficial bio
My name is Shelby Honeycutt and I am so glad you are here. I am going to share a little bit about me and would love to know more about you as well. Just click the link below, fill it out, and bam... just like that we will have web-ficially met.

I am a PK, but before you take that too far... I did not jump off the deep end and have truly loved growing up in ministry. So much so, that well, i'm still here. I get to be a kids pastor and live for the organized chaos of next gen ministry. Yep..it's my heartbeat. I believe that if we can't explain it to a five year old, we don't understand it ourselves, so I set myself up to practice knowing what I am talking about. But really, I love love love kids ministry.

I am often considered OCD and a neat freak. I only buy calendars that put me a year and a half ahead. Planning, organizing, and cleaning are definitely a happy place. I am an enneagram 1 so there's that. Now you know all about my personality.

I went to college and received my bachelors in exercise science and minored in biology and coaching. I am a certified personal trainer. And,  I have clearly picked a different path in life, so in the mean time I am just paying off my acquired knowledge in student loans.

I love all things active. Sports, hiking, hunting, disc golf, paddle boarding, running, and snowboarding. And then there are the horses. How many do I have? Well, that depends on the day, but usually a minimum of 5. My summers are spent in the arena working horses and roping. Definitely my happy place. And the beach, that's my happy place to. Maybe I have a thing for sand...arenas and beaches. I'll take it either way.

Christmas is my favorite time of year, and could definitely celebrate it all year round. I'm the hopeless romantic with a love for cheesy Christmas movies. Yes I know the story line is the same, they will break up, get back together, and kiss at the end. But still, I just love them.

My other favorite hobbies are writing, reading, learning (I am always enrolled in something), message prepping, and shopping. I don't even have to buy anything, just the aura of the mall is refreshing and rejuvenating. And I love all things coffee. Whether it wakes me up or puts me to sleep I love my coffee. Don't worry, I can go without it and not get a headache...so it''s a moderated addiction.

And saving the best for last, my family!!!  I have been married for five years to Mr. Orrin Honeycutt. He is truly a gift from God and amazes me every single day. I couldn't have dreamed of someone better to do life with. He is my very best friend, loves Jesus, and is the definition of a mans man. We have two furry children, Rex is 2 and Hooey is 8 (hehe).

My parents are also my pastors, and also my bosses. So that's super cool. Really it's that I like them so much that I had to find a way to include them into all aspects of my work and social life. I am blessed with incredible in-laws, seriously, none of the horror stories exist here. I get the pleasure of being "Auntie" to three nephews and three nieces. I also get to be a god-momma and what an honor it is.

And that's my life in a nutshell. The fun and descriptive side anyway. But behind all of this there is real life. There has been the hurt, the rejection, the loss, the anxiety struggles, grief, pain, and disappointments that we can all relate to. If I were to really sum my life up, it would simply be Jesus. I have walked through, both good and bad, but the constant is Jesus. There are so many times I wanted to quit, give up, and take anything to get rid of the pain. But no matter what I was facing, what disappointment, what heartbreak, grieving, unexpected events, or tragedy; my answer was found in the truth of God's Word. And that's why I am here today. That is why this website exists. I want to share truth with you. I want to walk with you, I have not been in your shoes, but I can help you discover the truth from someone who does know.

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
